Hey, I'm Mia
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent. I’m an expat living in Berlin, Germany.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It All Began
Moving to Germany wasn't in our long-term plans. Like many expat journeys, it started as a job opportunity and rapidly grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complex than they should have.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Created Mellow Orchard Garden
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Germany.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- A resource from a tourism authority
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Germany continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Mia
